Obituary for Levi Young

Levi Young, 75, of Memphis, Tennessee, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at the Baptist East Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee. Born February 24, 1936, in Dumas, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Rosie (White) Young, Sr. He attended school in the Dumas School System. Levi accepted Christ at an early age and united with the New Light Missionary Baptist Church, in Pickens, Arkansas.

Levi later relocated to Toledo,Ohio where four of his children were born, and was employed as a Machine Operator for General Motors for over 35 years, retiring in 2001. He married Eddie Mae (Harris-Eskride) Young and relocated to Memphis, TN.

Levi was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Elroy and Curlee Young.

Levi leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Eddie Harris-Eskridge Young, of Memphis, TN; children, Linda (Kelvin) Pickett, Leroy Young of Chicago, IL.,Stanley McCrary of Atlanta, GA,Linda (Kelvin) Pickett Levi, Jr.(Kelly) Young ,Debora A.Young Timothy (Tamara) Young,all of Toledo, Ohio, Vincent (Chandra) Hardison of Atlanta, GA, George Eskridge and Jeffery Eskridge, of Toledo, OH, 3 brothers, Nathaniel (Cherie) Young and Patrick (Angela) Young, both of Phoenix, of AZ, and Alonzo (Lorraine) Young of Alaska; 5 sisters, Geneva (David) Poole of Dumas, AR, Mary L. Harris of Muskegon, MI, Deborah Young of Hawaii, Sharon Young of Rayville, LA and Linda Young of Monroe, LA,; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memory.

Visitation wil be held on Friday, February 10,2012, from 1:00 - 3:00pm at House of Day Funeral Service.

Homegoing services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the House of Day Funeral Service at 1:00pm. Family dinner will follow from 4:00 - 8:00pm at the UAW Hall, 5411 Jackman Road, Toledo, Ohio 43613.

Levi will be laid to rest the the Memphis Park Memorial in Memphis, TN.
