John McElvene age 73 , of Toledo transitioned into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 at University of Toledo Medical Center. A native of Seneca, he was the son of Annie Edwards. John was a veteran of the Army. John McElvene was employed as a caseworker for the State of Ohio for many years until his retirement. He was proceeded in death by his mother Mrs. Annie "Susie" Edwards.

He leaves to cherish his memories daughters; favorite auntie, Mrs. Daisy McElvene, his caregiver Pastor Karen (Ronald) McElvene-Saunders, Raymond (Charma) McElvene, Mary Carter;best friend, Mubarak Naziruddin; and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Ms. Fatima Turner and The Fairview Nursing Home Staff.

Graveside services will take place Tuesday May 30, 2017 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery.
