David was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 1, 1955 to Alex Sr. and Eddie Mae Hicks. He passed this life on May 31, 2017 1 day before his 62nd Birthday. He was affectionately nicknamed Mr Dirt.
David was employed at an early age at Valerie’s Market. He was the acting Manager for several years for the market. All of the neighborhood kids loved him and visited the store often just to say Hi.
David confessed in Christ at an early age at New Home Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio under Reverend L.F. Perryman.
He attended Robinson Jr High and graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School. He loved sports and enjoyed playing Basketball, Baseball, and Football at school and at home with family and friends. He was a caring and sharing person to laugh with family and friends. He was a gentle soul and always protected his sisters. David loved to put together skateboards and fix bicycles.
David never married or had children. He loved all the children in the neighborhood and all his nieces and nephews.
David leaves to mourn his immediate family. Brothers: Larry J. Hicks Sr., Pastor Delbert (Cecilia) Hicks, and Paul D. Hicks Sr. Sisters: Corrine McCloud, Ramona Savage, Cynthia Hicks-Noble (John) Noble, Alexis Marie Nicholson, Deborah Pearson, and Geraldine Lyons. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
