Arthur Sylvester  Mitchell
Arthur S. Mitchell was born on October 18, 1953, to John H. and Ruby Faye Mitchell, in Detroit, Michigan. He departed this life on December 30, 2017, at UTMC, in Toledo, Ohio, after a long illness, with his family by his side.

Arthur spent time in the Navy, then went on to work several years as a Cook and a Chef.

Arthur was a big man with a big heart. Loving his family, volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America and mentoring to young people. Arthur enjoyed fishing, video games, having fun, telling jokes and bringing laughter to everyone he met.

He married and found joy with Sandra, and inherited 4 stepsons, who called him "Pops". He loved spending time with the grandchildren, teaching the girls to cook and the boys to fish.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; 4 sons, Ted (Ann) Whitely, Jr, Rondell Whitely, Stephen (Deneisha) Whitely and Terry Whitely; sister, Clarita (Reno) Smith; brother, Kenneth (Sarah) Mitchell; special aunt, Vagie Stringer, of CA; special brother-in-law, Rodney (Pamela) Crosby; 5 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 3:00bpm, preceded by a Wake service at 2:00 pm, at The House of Day Funeral Service, Rev. Rodney Crosby, officiating.
