Obituary for Mary Frances Henderson

Mary Frances Henderson
Mary Frances Henderson departed this life January 10, 2018 at Genesis Health Center. Mary was born November 9, 1933 to Porter Clay Wright and Annie B. Thompson Wright in Fayetteville, Tennessee. She was educated in the Lincoln County School System, graduating from West End High School in 1950. Mary married the love of her life, John Henderson, July 7, 1951. To this union one child was born. John and Mary remained together until his death in 2010. In 1952 the family moved to Toledo, Ohio. Mary worked several jobs before retiring the first time. She worked as a domestic worker, nurse's aid, postal worker, and as a production worker at Cameo Cosmetics before serving as manager of the Marriage License Department in Lucas County Probate Court. After many years of putting people together , she retired from Probate Court. That was the first time. After what seemed like only a month, if that, she was rehired by Probate Court. Only this time she worked two days a week. Mary did this for several years until she retired for good for a second time.

Mary was added to the Church of Christ at an early age. After relocating to Toledo she placed her membership with the Glass City family, where she has been for over 60 years. During this time she worked with the youth groups, worked on lectureship committees, sang with musical groups, and wherever she was needed. She enjoyed working on projects with her friends Marion Waters, Gladys Mitchell, and Martha McFollins. Mary remained faithful and willing as she possibly could be until her death.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, nieces, nephews, and many cousins, and special daughters Janice Russell and Gail Purdie.

Mary is survived by her son, Wayne (Bonita) Henderson; sister, Brenda Munusamy of Fayetteville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Deleice Henderson, Evan (Jamie Miranda) Henderson, Sheronda Russellall, all of Toledo, and Brande Victorian of New York, New York; great grandsons Nate Miranda, Jerry C. Moore III, and Donevan Garrison, all of Toledo. She is also survived by friend and former daughter in law, Joyce Henderson, several nieces, nephews and cousins; special daughters, Diane Henderson, Amanda Martin-Talley, Sharese Morrison, Cheryl Wilson; special brothers, Larry (Nancy) King, Harold (Mary) Dixon of Lincoln County, Tennessee; adopted son Kenneth Davis of Sun City, Arizona.; godson, Kerry Mitchell of Los Angeles, California; her special friends Maggie Taylor-Grice, Anne Childress, Marion Waters, Gladys Mitchell, and Martha McFollins.

To all of the Glass City Family, just remember to laugh and know that she loved you all.
