Obituary for Reginald Phillip Lyons Sr.

Reginald Phillip  Lyons Sr.
Reginald Phillip Lyons Sr. aka Goon, was born on January 1, 1956 in Toledo, Ohio to the late June M. Lyons and the late Samuel J. Lyons, Sr. He was the oldest of thirteen siblings. He departed his life on May 10, 2018 at the age of 62.

Reggie graduated from Jesup W. Scott in 1974. After high school, he went to work as in inspector for the City of Toledo. At the age of 26, he entered the United States Marine Corps stationed in Twenty Nine Palms, California. After leaving the military he stayed in California for 18 years. In September 2000, he returned to Toledo, Ohio.

Reggie was a loving, caring and a very charismatic individual who would do anything for anyone. While he could be loving, within a few seconds he could also be very loud and loved to be the life of the party. During his time in California, he enjoyed hosting and entertaining friends and family. While in California he worked as a paralegal for Oppenheimer Smith & Rose. While living in Toledo again, you could find Reggie eagerly helping family, friends and St. Mark Church with various tasks. Reggie spent a lot of time playing dominoes with his fellow neighbors in Ashley Arms Apartments. Reggie loved working the Lucas County election polls and this was the last job he did before his passing.

Reggie was preceded in death by his sister Yvette M. Lyons and brother Mark W. Lyons.

He is survived by his children; Jermain C. Lyons (Toledo), Autumn C. Lyons (California), Reginald P. Lyons, Jr. and Derrick L. Cook Sr. (Louisiana); Grandchildren, Allaysia, Nadia, Rico, London, Diego, Derrick Jr, Derrick J and Josiah; Siblings, Irma Porter (Toledo), Faye Lyons (Toledo), Samuel Lyons (Georgia), Christopher (Lisa) Lyons (Texas), Gayle Rayford (Toledo), Kenneth Lyons (Texas), Benjamin (Eloise) Lyons (Indiana), Ronnie Lyons (Wisconsin), Rhonda Lyons (Wisconsin), Samuel Truman (Indiana), Darcy Lyons (Ohio), Paul Castro (Indiana), Ronda Rollins (Indiana); a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends; and special friend Sylvonnah Harvard “Beenie”.
