Obituary for Harold Sylvester Thomas

Harold S. Thomas, age 84, passed away on September 7, 2018, in the Ebeid Hospice Center in Sylvania, Ohio, surrounded by his family. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, to William and Marie Thomas. The family moved to Toledo, Ohio, in 1949. He attended Scott High School and The University of Toledo. He retired from the Unicast-Midland Ross Corp. in 1993.

Harold was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1969 and served Jehovah faithfully 49 years, serving as an elder in the Jermain, Stickney, Central and Park Congregations. He taught many people the truth about God's purposes as brought out in the Bible. Harold was affectionately known as the "Roving Reporter" and dearly loved by all who knew him.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Ocie Lee; parents, William and Marie Thomas; sisters, Ethel Sellers, Lourene Word; brother, Carl Thomas and grandson, Ramon Thomas.

Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Diane (James) Johnson, Vanessa Dodd, Margaret Thomas, Leah Gamble; step daughter, Vanessa Kaye (Marc) Edwards; sons, Harold Thomas Jr., Aaron Thomas; step sons, Jay Hyde, Dorian Hart; sisters, Phyllis Smith, Mae Randall and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Visitation with the family begins at 1 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2018, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 740 N. McCord Rd., Toledo, OH 43615. A Memorial Talk will follow at 2 p.m.

The family extends our warm gratitude to all the staff at the Ebeid Hospice Center for their loving concern and attention given to our dad and brother.
