Doris Lee Rayford was born July 16,1943 to the late Lonnie and Alice Marie Jackson in Lafayette, Louisiana. Doris Lee Rayford departed this life September 12, 2018 after a gradual and painful decline in health. Her initial intent in coming to Toledo, Ohio was to bring her niece and nephew (Jarvis & Willie Jr. Hill, a.k.a Bubba) to their mother (sister, Lois). Starting a new journey in Toledo, she continued her education coming from Grambling State University to The University of Toledo, Lourdes University and Spring Arbor University.

Doris was employed at St. Vincent Hospital, Cordella Martin, United Way and Frederick Douglas Center. During her employment with United Way and her placement at the Frederick Douglas center Doris demonstrated such a lifestyle of dedication and creativity, that the two agencies collaborated and created a position entitled “Family Resource Coordinator”. After achieving this new position, Doris designed and constructed a girl’s group entitled GUTS “Girls United Together Socially”.
