Obituary for Rhonda Maria Harper (Harper)

Rhonda Maria Harper was called home to glory on Friday, January 11, 2019, at The University of Toledo Medical Center. Rhonda was born February 21, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio, to the union of Isaac N. and Alberta A. (Gibson) Harper. She was the first born of beautiful twin girls, the second her sister Shonda Marcia.

From an early age, Rhonda excelled academically, at Picket Elementary and Libbey High School, where she was active in various clubs, cheerleading and various social events, graduating in 1974.

After high school, she worked at Ohio Citizens Bank & Trust, and continuing her love for learning at The University of Toledo, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Finance.

Politically active, Rhonda served on many political campaigns. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Warren A.M.E., serving on many boards and committees. She recently served on Stewardess Board Number 2, until her illness.

Rhonda was preceded in death by both of her parents and a nephew, Charles Nathan Albert Harper.

Rhonda loved Jesus Christ, her family and her church family. She was blessed later in life with her son, Donald Isaac Daniel Gillespie. She leaves to cherish her memory her only son, Donald; sisters, Denise (Steve) Moore, twin sister, Shonda Abercrombie, of Toledo; brothers, Bruce M. Harper, (Long Beach, CA), Isaac Douglas (Dr. Linda) Harper, (Greenville, SC), Paul E. Harper, (Toledo) and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A special mention to her lifelong friend, Marilyn Thorton.
