Obituary for Ora Lee Venson

Funeral Services are Monday, August 25, 2014 12:00noon at Jerusalem Baptist Church preceded by 11:00am wake. Visitation is Sunday 3:00-5:00pm at The House of Day Funeral Service Chapel. Ora was born March 20, 1940 in Marianna, Arkansas. She was the second child of thirteen children born to the late Rev. Frank Venson, Sr. and wife, Ora Lee Venson (whom preceded her in death). Her quiet life ended Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 10:55 am. She confessed her life to Christ at Mount City Baptist Church at an early age. She attended Moton High School in Marianna, Arkansas. She relocated to Toledo, Ohio in 1961. Ora met Perry L. Ward (Devoted Companion) to this union two children were born.Later she joined Jerusleum M.B. Church where she remained a faithful member and servant until her death. After several years as a homemaker; she rejoined the workforce as housekeeper for Alpha Towers, until her retirement. Because of love and passion for children, she became a volunteer grandparent for Toledo Public Schools, where she worked until became ill. A gentle heart and generous spirit, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, dear sister, and a giving friend. Ora simply enjoyed sitting on the sidelines, watching others have a good time. She did not demand much. Ora was the proud mother of two sons: Lee Roy and Perry “June” L. Venson, Sr.; and dear sister of two brothers: David and Freddie Venson, whom preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: Her precious daughter Cherly “Lady” L. Venson; five grandsons: Paris L. James, Perry L. Venson, Jr., Me'Quael C. Stephens, Marvin L. Houston, III, and Richard J. Thomas, Jr., five great-grandchildren: Siniyya K. James, Paris L. James, Jr., Me'Quael C. Stephens, Jr., Mar'Quael C. Stephens, and Kaydinc' S. Kyles; three sisters: Chaney Taylor, Stella Burnett, and Shirley Peals; seven brothers: John Venson, Frank Venson (Celia), Eddie Venson (Mildred), Willie Venson, William Venson (Albirda), Clarence Venson (Sheauntay), and Phillip Venson; one uncle: Alvin Vinson of Peoria, Illinois and one aunt: Lula Fluker of Holly Grove, Arkansas. A special friend: Perry Ward; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
