Obituary for Jesse Donald Adams Jr.

Wednesday, March, 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the House of Day Chapel. Visitation Tuesday from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm at the House of Day Chapel. Jesse Donald Adams, Jr. (Skinny PaPa) passed away suddenly at home on Monday, March 21, 2016. He was born on October 10, 1938 to Jesse and Lena Adams in St. Louis, Missouri. He moved to Toledo, Ohio at an early age. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Theodore Adams. He was an avid chess player, loved sports, especially Ohio State and San Antonio Spurs. Whenever you received a letter or card from him, it was typed. He visited the sick in nursing homes weekly and always dressed in suits and ties. He didn’t like dressing down. While everyone is asleep, he was up jogging and exercising. To talk to him on the phone, you had to call by 6:00am. Jesse graduated from Scott High School in 1956 and the University of Toledo. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He worked at The Frederick Douglass Center, and Jeep Local 500. His favorite sayings were: I’m fair for a square and slack for a mack. My cat and all that Ain’t nothin’ to me but what you see. Jesse is survived by his daughters, Shelly Adams-Speights of Baltimore, Maryland, Holly Hodge of Toledo, Ohio, sons Kevin Griffith and Ronald Adams of Toledo, Ohio and Eric Brown of California along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brother Ronald Adams and sisters Aaishah Karim-Adams and Daphne Adams. The family will receive guests on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 7:00-9:00pm at The House of Day Funeral Home, where Funeral Services will begin at 2:00pm on Wednesday. “Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog”.
