Joberta Eileen Scott was born on March 18th, 1946 to Joseph and Alberta Scott. Her youth was spent in Aliquippa, PA along with her three brothers; LeRoy E Jones, Richard Scott and Joseph Daniel Scott Jr. She graduated in 19XX from Aliquippa High School.

Joberta moved to Washington, DC to attend Howard University in 196X, where she met her first husband, Benjamin Franklin Canty III. They married in 1970 and moved to Freedom, PA. Their union produced three children; Benita Frances Canty, Bashemai Fae Canty and Benjamin Franklin Canty IV. Joberta dedicated her life to the Lord on February 6, 1976 in Aliquippa, PA. Ultimately, her calling led her to graduating from the Harty Bible School in Pittsburgh, in 1982 and became an ordained minister of the Kodesh Church of Immanuel (1983).

In 1984, Joberta and Benjamin relocated to Boston, MA for his employment. Joberta was employed at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts, working as a clerk with Assistant United States Attorney, Robert Mueller. However, her passion to spread the gospel persisted as her involvement in the local church, New Covenant Christian Center, led to a staff position as Elder of Evangelism. There she preached and counselled those in need as a certified Christian clinical counselor. She had a strong interest in prison ministry and began volunteering. Joberta travelled both in the United States and abroad in fulfilling the call to those behind the walls. Her lecturing, and ministering activities took her to numerous correctional facilities in Massachusetts. In 1986, she accepted the position of Protestant Chaplin at MCI at Framingham. She served as clergy for imprisoned women for five years and was most proud of leading the visit of Mother Theresa to the facility.

She married Jack W. Patrick February 14th 1993. Joberta then served as, Assistant Pastor of Holy Temple United Holy Church of America, in Roxbury, MA. Her leadership, training activities and speaking engagements included conference and seminars for Women's Aglow, Prison Fellowship, Church Women United and Christian Women Fellowship International in Nigeria, where she travelled to share her ministry.

In 1994, she founded Restoration House for Women, a Christian transitional house for women coming out of prison. For three years, she served as the Executive Director, administering a program of transition and discipline to women for one year so they could be reunited with their children and lead productive, Christian-based lives.

In 1997, Jack and Joberta moved to Detroit for his architectural career which ultimately landed them in Toledo, Ohio in 2002. In July 2002, Joberta published her first book, Remind Me Lord: A Devotional Journal Designed With You In Mind. The book was designed for women behind walls-both literally and figuratively.

In Toledo, she served on the Board of Naomi House, a transitional place for women in recovery. Elder Patrick was appointed to the United Holy Church Board of Presbytery for the Northwestern District in 2003 and President of the Northwestern District Board of Evangelism and Extension 2006. She was asked to serve as pastor Miracle Tabernacle in 2009, until 2014, when illness required her to retire, however, she remained active, despite her illness.


She is survived by her husband, Jack W. Patrick; her beautiful children, Benita Canty, Bashemai Fae (Carl) Harris, Benjamin (Shannon) Canty; the jewels of her life, her grandchildren, Skye Phillips, Benjamin Canty V and Corinne Harris; brother, Joseph Daniel Scott Jr.; and a host of other family & friends.
