Milton Benjamin Baker, Sr.
Milton Benjamin Baker, Sr., 74, aka Ben, "Catt Daddy," "Papa," "The Boss," "The Mayor," was born
June 7, 1942 to Mildred McKinnis and Ed Baker in Hawkinville, Georgia. On May 18, 2017, after a
long illness, he departed this life at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Ben arrived in Toledo, Ohio in 1950 from Miami, Florida., where he attended Toledo Public Schools
and graduated from Woodward High School.
After a long working career, he settled at Unicast, formerly known as Midland Ross, as a Melt
Supervisor. His career ended in 1996 after being disabled.
Ben, aka "Papa," loved his family and friends dearly . He took a lot of pride in his children and
grandchildren, and always shared a word of wisdom. His hobbies included fishing, watching all sports,
joking and harassing people, but CB was the hobby he loved best.
Affectionately called "Catt Daddy," he loved to harass his CB buddies. "Catt Daddy" strove to have
the most CB power and to talk the longest distance. Known as the "Mayor,"of the block, he always
kept a watch on everything and everybody. "The Boss," never left his management position from his
job. He always had a job for everyone.
Ultimately, when meeting him, you either hated him or loved him because whatever came up, came
out. There was nothing in between. But love and won, because people loved Ben.
Ben was preceded in death by his father, Ed Baker, stepdad, Willie James McKinnis, brothers,
Alphonso Baker, and Tommy McKinnis, grandsons, Andrew Baker, Sr., and Milton Baker III.
He leaves to cherish his memory of 37 years with Emma Baker, mother, Mildred McKinnis, sister,
Marie McKinnis (McCray, Ga.), children, Sherry (Ted) Mayberry (Atl,Ga.), Gisel Baker, Tracy
Baker-Brown, Tammy (Demeon), Austin, and Milton (Obsession) Baker, Jr., nine grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Special acknowledgments to Obsession Howell for generosity of time, caring and loyalty. Also, to
Hospice of North West Ohio.
Ben will be greatly and forever missed because he is truly one in a million.
