Obituary for Dannie Young Jr.

Dannie Young, Jr., 79, passed away on May 22, 2017, at Henderson House on Ryewyck Ave. He was born in Wellsburg, West Virginia on February 25, 1938 to Lucille and Dannie Young, Sr. After graduating from Dunbar High School in 1956, he served in the Air Force, returning to the United States in 1960 after serving in Italy and Germany. Dannie was employed as a postal worker in Gary, Indiana before moving to Toledo, where he worked at AP Parts for several years, eventually retiring in 1998 from Sun Oil Refinery.
Dannie was very athletic, playing football, basketball and baseball in high school, and also playing basketball while in the Air Force. He enjoyed watching sports and attending various sporting events. Dannie also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Dannie was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Young and former spouse Rosetta Young. He is survived by his daughter, Rhea; son Dannie Young III (Brandy); grandsons Jason Mayfield and Dannie Young IV; granddaughters Allison Young and Andrea Hill; brother Charles Young (Shirley);special cousins June Beal (Richard) and John Anthony Young, as well as host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. at The House of Day Funeral Home, 2550 Nebraska Ave. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at The House of Day Funeral Home, 2550 Nebraska Ave., where the family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Pastor Timothy Pettaway, Sr. will officiate and internment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
