Obituary for Doland Brown

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather, Doland Brown, age 85, born April 13, 1932 went home to glory on June 12, 2017. Originally born in Bailey, North Carolina, Doland and family moved to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania at a very early aged. While in Pittsburgh he attended Braddock High School where he eventually met and married Betty Brown on November 6, 1950 to begin their lifelong journey of 64 blessed and happy years of marriage.

Shortly, after their marriage Doland was enlisted in the arm services where he served as a Paratrooper during the Korean War. During this time of service Doland and Betty live at Fort Campbell, Kentucky where they had their first child. After being discharged from the military Doland and Betty moved back to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where they had and raised three additional children. While working fulltime at the steel mill and raising a family in Pittsburgh, Doland attended night classes in pursuit of obtaining the credentials to become a Respiratory Therapist. Upon completion of certification, Doland pursued his passion as a Respiratory Therapist where he land a job at St. Charles Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. That’s when in 1971, Doland moved his family from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Toledo, Ohio.

While at St Charles Hospital Doland’s passion as a Respiratory Therapist enable him to obtain the career position as Director of Respiratory Care and Cardiopulmonary Services until his retirement in 1997. During Doland’s employment at St. Charles Hospital he became the president of NWORCA (Northwest Ohio Respirator Care Association) along with being a board member at the University of Toledo for the implementation of Respiratory Care Education. Doland also had a passion for golf and served as the president for the Midwest Golf Association. Doland was preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents Pearl and Louis, siblings LJ, Willie, and Mary Ellen.

Doland leaves to cherish his memory (i) his four children Do’Land Gary (Sandra), Donna, David, Derek (Coco) (ii) grandchildren Denai, Lee, Amber, Alexis, Danielle, Daniel, Delaina, (iii) great grandchildren DeMia, Bobby, (iv) great-great grandchildren Rylan, BJ, (v) Goddaughter Tammy, (vi) Sisters Betty Lou and Rebecca along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
