Obituary for Marsha Diane Carter (Carter)

Marsha Diane Carter, was born on March 28, 1946, to the union of Rev. James A. and Hazel L. Carter,in Toledo, Ohio, at Mercy Hospital.

Marsha was a very happy baby until she took ill with extremely high fevers. Doctors were unable to determine why she consistently had them, later discovering that it was Rheumatic fever. At this point, it was too late to treat the condition effectively. After undergoing several operations, it was determined that the damage to her brain was too severe. Taking her home to care for her, it eventually became too much for her parents, who were heart broken when they could no longer care for her at home.

In 1954, at the age of 8, Marsha was placed in the Columbus State Developmental Center, in Columbus, Ohio. Her parents found this to be the perfect place for her to receive the care she needed. In 1975, she relocated to the Tiffin Developmental Center in Tiffin, Ohio. In 1982, having out grown that facility, Marsha was relocated to N.O.D.C., where her care continued until 2006. In 2006, Marsha was relocated to the Luther Home of Mercy, and in 2016, she was relocated for the final time, to the Filling Memorial Home of Mercy, located in Napoleon, Ohio.

Marsha loved movies, music, jewelry, stuffed animals and getting her nails done. She was admitted to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital on, August 13, 2017, and went home to be with Our Lord and Savior, Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Rev. James A. and Hazel L. Carter, sisters, Kathy Carter and Arlene Wilson, brothers, Joseph E. Easterly, Sr., Marvin, Richard, James L. and Michael Carter, brother-in-law, William Taylor.
