Obituary for Tony William Bivens

Mr. Tony William Bivens "Jungle" passed peacefully at home with family by his side on August 17, 2017 at the age of 46. Tony Bivens was born on June 30th 1971 in Grand Rapids Michigan, to William David & Shirley Mae Bivens, where he attended Jefferson Elementary School during his childhood. Tony was preceded in death by his Father, William David Bivens, Brother William Bivens, step sister, Karen Porter. While always having ideas he thought were great, and many were, except when he tied a cape on and tried to fly out of the upstairs window like Superman! That was the real “Black Tony” fearless! Later moving to Toledo with his family, he attended Thomas A DeVilbiss High School with a host of his friends enjoying his young life on many journeys with them. Tony enjoyed being with the love of his life, Angela Bivens since 1988 through ups and downs for over 25 years. Beginning with her tracking him down all the way to New Orleans at the train station, because she wanted his love. Their life together grew and they married officially on August 11th 2001 until he went to rest easy.

After many years of working and struggling towards his many goals, Tony made it happen. He created himself a variety of businesses such as, real estate-construction-trucking-bar/pallet factory/restaurant-juke joint/The 613 and many other avenues leading him to become a self made entrepreneur. Tony has always set about to teaching, encouraging, hooking up and guiding friend’s, family and his children, to the way of life and how to gain prosperity by any means, and would tell you “get out there and get it, make it happen”! Tony had the joy of being an accomplished, vibrant soul, loving, witty, dedicated, "go-getter", he loved being passionate about grilling his ribs to the “T” and having his family gatherings for Holidays. Which he will be missed dearly and never will be the same without hearing him play the blues and yelling “Black Tony Productions”. Family, friend’s, lovers and associates, Tony will be loved and missed so much always and forever, but we can say God has gained a good one; he’s gone but never forgotten!

Tony is survived by his mother, Shirley Mae Sanders & stepdad Robert “Bob” Sanders of Toledo, his loving wife/soul mate of 29 years, Angela Bivens; 5 children, Cordaro, Camelle’e, Caprice Bivens, Tony Bivens Jr, Olivia Antonia Bivens, & Jake Billick, Vaughtlen and Vaughnell Gray all of Toledo. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Tony Bivens III, Vau’Lenzia Gray, Vau’laydja Gray, Joalynn Franklin, Vaughnell Gray Jr and Julian Perez in which he loved so much and who loved him as Pawpaw. Tony will always be loved in the hearts of his surviving siblings, David Lee (Amy) Bivens, Norma Jean (David) Bivens, Steven Dwayne (Motty) Bivens of Colorado, Bobby Joe (Beckie) Bivens, Willie “Nate” (Dawn) Ross and Shawn “Champ” (Shree) Walker, very special homie, Moe Moe, a very special niece, Shocka Mae Bivens; Special friends/family Mickey McGhee, George Jones Jr, Rachel Doyal; along with a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close family members and friends. He wants his children and grandchildren to always remember him as a loving, strong, kind, gentle, patient, driven dad, pawpaw who encouraged them to pursue their goals and much more. While knowing his love will forever live in their hearts.
