Obituary for Curbert Lee Mitchell

Curbert Lee Mitchell
Brother Curbert (Curby) Lee Mitchell

On Friday, January 19th, 2018, we lost one of the best nail technicians in the country. At the age of 47, he had a scheduled appointment with God that could not be cancelled.

Curby was born on June 21st, 1970 to the late Eddie Lee Mitchell Jr. and Irene Mitchell. As a young child, he was both creative and athletic. He loved detailing everything from his boombox (with stickers and designs) to his bike (with 100 reflectors). He graduated from Roy C. Start High School where he was a member of the cross country and track team. His creativity blossomed and his passion for art and detailing cars was cultivated in high school and carried throughout his life.

After high school, he joined the military where served for four years. His military career spanned from 1988 to 1992. Curby actively served during the Desert Storm/ Gulf War (1990-1991) receiving the US Gulf War Liberation of Kuwait Service Medal. Upon returning to Toledo, in 1992, he returned to his first love detailing cars by working for a local dealership. He loved to customize cars for area cars shows where he won first place several times. Continuing to use his creative skills, Curby obtained his license as a nail technician. He again quickly found great success in this new career while working at multiple salons. His designs were unforgettable and are a testament to his creative ability. He was also a correction officer for two years.

He was preceded in death by his loving father Eddie Lee Mitchell Jr. and Sister Rachelle Mitchell. Curby leaves to mourn his passing his daughter, Caila Mitchell; mother, Irene Mitchell; sister, Patriece (Mark) Evans of Marion, Indiana; niece, Alysa Evans; nephew, Mark Evans Jr. and a host of other loving relatives and special friends.
