Ms. Dorothy McCoy - Pettaway, seventy-one, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 atPromedica Ebeid Hospice Center, Sylvania, Ohio. She was born, February 23, 1946, in Minter City, Mississippi, to the union of Mr. and Mrs. McKinley and Mary Waters-McCoy. Both preceded her in death along with seven brothers and three sisters. She professed her hope in Christ at an
early age. Dorothy moved to Toledo, Ohio with her family at a young age. Dorothy attended the Toledo Public School system. While in high school, Dorothy matured and participated on the debate team and girl soft ball team. Dorothy graduated from Edward Drummond Libbey High School in 1962. After high school, Dorothy attended University of Toledo studying Psychology and Sociology receiving various
Bachelor Degrees and a Master degree. She was also an English teacher and tutor for the Toledo Public School system. On August 22, 1964 she was united in Holy Matrimony with Stephen Pettaway, Sr., together they became the proud parents of three daughters and two sons. Dorothy was employed with the Lucas
County Children services board for 15 years as a Social Worker and then with Sasi Rehabilitation Housing as a Housing Director until her retirement and 1987. Dorothy was very active in the community she was a member of Southern Missionary Baptist Church Pastor Aide committee, Libbey High School Board,
Libbey Alumni Committee, Lucas County Ombudsman program, 4-H girl softball team and Girl Scout Leader just to name a few.

Other past times was enjoying cooking for her family, reading to her children from birth to adulthood, shopping, traveling, giving encouraging advise
and just being with her family whom she loved with all of
her heart. She leaves to celebrate her homegoing, her beloved three daughters; Shabrina, Shawana, Shandrea and two dear sons; Stephen, Jr., Sebreun Sr., former husband; Stephen Pettaway Sr., wonderful grandchildren; Robert, III, Sebreun, II, Shaquana and Eric Davis, II Stephen, III, Cameo, Indeya, Joylin, Brittany, Sebreun III and fourteen precious great grandchildren; Sweet Sister; Mary Scott and a host of other loving relatives and kind friends.
