Obituary for Alvin Lewis Sr.

Alvin  Lewis Sr.
Alvin Lewis, Sr. also known as "The Horse" was born September 29, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio. He was the youngest of three children. He was raised by Hilda M. Lewis and Alvin T. Lewis, Sr. His biological mother, Wilma Emery left him in their care.

"The Horse" graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School. "Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog!!!" After graduating, he worked eight years at Unicast. He also worked 10 years at Surface Combustion, three years at Ford and retired from Delphi in 1995.

Alvin came to Bibleway under Rev. Carl E. Mitchell, in 1970. In 1975 he received the Holy Ghost. During his time at Bibleway, he was an usher, deacon, Sunday School teacher, and a superintendent of Sunday School. He later joined New Life in August 2017, under the leadership of Pastor Jermaine McCullum.

He coached a host of young boys in football and enjoyed watching it as well. He also enjoyed being an umpire. Alvin loved all sports. His favorite thing to do was to worship. He love being around people.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin T. Lewis, Sr. and Hilda Lewis; first wife, Betty L. Banks-Lewis; brother, Arthur Foster Khalilullah; sister, Joyce Clark

Left to cherish Alvin's memory is his wife, Jean Lewis; children, Sheilda, Alvin Jr., Rita, Anita, and Leslie; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; god-daughter, Darla; and a host of loving family and friends.
