Obituary for James Gordon

JAMES A GORDON
AUGUST 1, 1953- JUNE 6, 2018

James A. Gordon was born August 1, 1953 to John and Goletha Gordon. He was raised in Toledo, Ohio and was known to his friends as Hooker but to his family as Mack. After a two-year battle with cancer, he lost his valiant fight on June 6, 2018. He was a graduate of Scott High School and relocated to Atlanta, GA in 1982. He retired from the U.S. Postal service after 25 years.
James was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Lewis and Willie May Gordon and Gus and Savannah Byrd; also by his father John Calvin Gordon, brothers Jerry and John Calvin Jr. He leaves to mourn him his mother Goletha Gordon (John deceased)/Toledo, Ohio; ex-wife Alohna Andrews, son Travis LaMarr, grandson Cairo M. Gordon, all of Mesa, Arizona. Sisters Savannah Jackson/Toledo, Ohio; Otha Brenke (David deceased)/Battle Creek, Michigan and Barbara Hamilton (Michael)/Mableton, Georgia. Also surviving are his brothers Charles Gordon (Elizabeth)/Charlotte, North Carolina and Robert Gordon (Gwendolyn)/Lithonia, Georgia. He also leaves to mourn an uncle R. L. Byrd (Hattie), a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
