Obituary for Emma Lou Floyd

Mrs. Emma Lou Floyd, at the age of 80 received her heavenly wings on Thursday, August 30, 2018.

She was the eighth of 17 children born to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie and Marie Peters-Byrd on August 24, 1938 in Monroe, Georgia. Emma was united in holy matrimony to Emory Floyd on August 14, 1965. In 1969 they relocated the family from Georgia to Toledo, Oh. She retired from Hunt-Wesson Foods. She loved her New Home Baptist Church family and was a faithful Christian woman serving on the Mothers Board and Choir. She always had a big smile and a hug that you will never forget. She loved her family dearly making each child, grandchild, great grandchild, and great-great grandchild feel as though they were her favorite.

She was preceded in death by parents, Jimmie and Marie-Peters Byrd, 10 siblings, Jimmie Sr., Robert, Samuel, A.V, Roger, Artis, John Henry and Nellie Maude Byrd, Gladys Hale, and Margaurite Mclntyre,1 grandson, Christopher Knox. Mother Floyd leaves to carry on her legacy, husband of 53 years, Emory Lewis Floyd, sons, Kenny (Pain) Knox, Bradford Knox, Amos and Joe Lewis Floyd, daughters, Nancy (William) Davis, Yvonne Knox, Geraldine Floyd, and Christine (Eddie) King and step-daughter Mary (John) Giles, Sisters, Ida Mae Harris, Annie Holloman, Barbara (Eddie) Turner, Josephine (Sammie) Shellman, brothers, Tommie Byrd and George (Minnie) Byrd, sister-in-law Ida Byrd, brother-in-law Emory M.C. Hale, 27 grands, 45 great-grands, 2 great-great grands, special cousin Willie N. Fobbs, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
