Obituary for Celeste Renee Burgess

Celeste Renee Burgess affectionately known as "Boo" to her close family and friends was Born on October 27, 1981 in Toledo, OH to Reverend Albert Lee Burgess and Donna Marie Burgess nȇe Johnson. She also was the most adored Sibling to Vincent (Quanesha) Johnson, Albert Burgess III, Al (Crystal) Stockard, Jamie Burgess, Ashley (Andrew) Carruthers, Brittany Burgess, and Edward Burgess.



She was preceded in death by her Father Albert Lee Burgess, Grandparents Elbert L. Burgess and Alberta G. Burgess, Uncle Christopher Johnson, Aunts Deborah Burgess and Victoria Reynolds. Survived by her loving mother Donna Marie Burgess, siblings Vincent Johnson (Burgess), Albert Burgess III, Al Stockard, Jaimie Burgess, Ashley Carruthers, Brittany Burgess, and Edward Burgess, fiancé Clarence Winfield and Family, Mrs. Celina Winfield, Aufwiedersehen "Veda" Winfield, J'Vann Winfield, and a host of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.



Celeste attended Old Orchard Elementary class of 94', Old West End Junior High School class of 96' and graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School Class of 2000 with honors. Celeste then went on to attend the University of Toledo obtaining Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice in 2007. Upon graduating, Celeste continued to pursue her passions working for multiple institutions in the greater Toledo area surrounding mental and social health issues.



Celeste was dedicated to improving and empowering her community even further by becoming an educator and active philanthropist, going on to establish her own non-profit organization known as Blemished Butterfly Lupus Foundation in 2014. Celeste served her community at health fairs and festivals by spreading awareness and raising funds in support of finding a cure and better treatments for Lupus and Lupus related illnesses. Her work over the years has helped gain scholarship funding for multiple high school seniors living with Lupus to attend college, as well as national recognition by being nominated for The Jefferson Award for Outstanding Community Service in 2016 & 2017. Celeste was a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Zeta Xi Zeta Chapter and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star PHA (Jewel Chapter NO. 20) - which further assisted in her community outreach efforts. Celeste was also an active, proud and beloved member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and greatly enjoyed singing in the church's choir.



Celeste's upbringing left a positive, long lasting impression on anyone she encountered throughout her personal, academic and occupational environments. To her family she was the most outspoken and supportive daughter, sister, auntie, cousin that you could ask for. She would light up any room with her beautiful smile, greeting people with warm energy and her one of a kind charming personality. She was very light hearted, strong-willed, independent, and optimistic. Celeste loved to be active and outgoing while having a good time. Whether it was her daily ritual of listening to good music, attending concerts of her favorite artists, visiting amusement parks and carnivals with family, going to movie theaters, or just strolling local parks, she made sure she always enjoyed what life had to offer everyday single day. Celeste was loved, cherished and adored by her family, friends and acquaintances she will be greatly missed.
