Obituary for Esther L. Brown

Esther Lee Brown (Mudea) was born on June 17, 1931 in Bradley, Arkansas to John and Arlena Lanford. She was preceded in death by both parents; her children, Linda Brown and Robert Lee; her siblings, Willora, J.D., Alberta, J.L., Virgie Mae, and "sister" Evola Brooks.

Mudea was the Matriarch and Queen of her family. She never met a stranger and she was not only a mother to her 13 children, but she was the mother to many in our community. She was also loved by many friends and relatives, as well. She loved the Lord and submitted to his Lordship as a young woman while attending Little D. Baptist Church in Mer Rouge, Louisiana under the leadership of Rev. Handley. She later moved to Toledo, Ohio and held memberships at Ebenezer Baptist Church and St. Mary's Greater Baptist Church for over 40 years. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Leaving to mourn her death are her surviving children, Holman Lee (Cynthia), Magdalene Woods (Willie), Martha Brown, Jessie Brown, Jr., Carl Brown, Louise Brown, Patricia Brown, Vertis Brown, Faye Shelmon (Kadon), Jeffery Brown, and Juanita Robinson; special son, Ezekiel Anderson (Benita, LA.); brother, Joe Carr-Lanford (Shirley); sister, Betty Daniels (Tim); brothers-in-law, Joe Brown (Toledo, Ohio) and Ellis Brown (Las Vegas, NV); sisters-in-law, Mable, Eloise and Iberia (Las Vegas, NV); Marie and Hazel (CA) and Mary Lanford (Toledo, Ohio). She leaves to mourn 120 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren; special friend and caretaker, Leon Henry and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
