Obituary for Ernest Terry Banks

Ernest Terry Banks passed away peacefully Friday, November 23, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by his children and family members.

Ernest was born November 27, 1964 to Vertlea Barnes and Ernest Knighten. Ernest attended St. Francis High School and Macomber, where he graduated in 1983.

While attending Macomber, he played football earning the honor of Most Valuable Player. He also earned a football scholarship to Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Ernest earned a Bachelors Degree in Business from the University of Toledo. He was also employed at Chrysler Jeep Corporation for many years.

Ernest was an enthusiastic motorcyclist and rode for many years. In recent years, he studied the Bible with close friend Marvin Smith. He enjoyed traveling, and visited such places as New York, Florida, Memphis, Disney World, and Universal Studios. Ernest also traveled to Puerto Rico while wheelchair bound.

Ernest was preceded in death by his father, brother, Will Edward Banks, and David and Clara Haynes.

Ernest leaves to cherish his memory, mother, Vertlea Barnes; children, Julian and Autumn Banks; sisters Burnette Ware (Don), Mary Grant (Cornell), Amanda Woods (Eugene); ex-wife, Stephanie Stubblefield Banks, many loving nieces and nephews, and close friend, Daniel Manning.
