Obituary for Clarence L Strong Jr.

Clarence L. Strong Jr. 88, was born May 1,1930, in Sunflower, Mississippi to Clarence L. Strong, Sr. and Annie M. Strong. He departed this life and gained his heavenly wings on February 16, 2019, at 6:39 p.m. surrounded by his loving family. Clarence was hired in at DuPont on May 25, 1955 and enjoyed 37 years of service, holding the positions of Supervisor and Quality Control and retiring in 1993. Upon his retirement, Clarence began his second career, working at The House of Day Funeral Service for over 20 years alongside his first cousin, Dorothy Day and second cousins Michael K. Day Sr. and Cassandra Moore. His love of funeral service and his exemplary work ethic helped grow the business and set an example for the next generation.

He met and married the love of his life, Betty J. Bell-Strong on August 3, 1972, fathering six children whom they raised together. Clarence was a faithful member of Inspirational Baptist Church for over forty years, serving on the Usher Board and as President of the Usher Board. He joined the Amazon Lodge in 1976, Maumee Chapter #6, R.A.U. #6, past High Priest Zaburd Council 2, past Royal & Select Master, ST. Matthews Consistory #24, 33 Degree, Mecca Temple #43 Shrine. Clarence was preceded in death by sibilings, Marydale McCaleb, Tolbert Strong, Rome/ Romi Strong, Florida Butler, James, Rosie Nabritt, Claude Ethel Kelly, Ada G. Marie, Ronald, and previous wife, Evelyn Strong.

He will be forever missed by his wife, Betty J. Strong; sons, Rudy, Kenny and Clarence Strong III; daughters, Audrey (Perry) Riley, Anna Strong-Jaynes and Katina (Daniel) Johnson; grandchildren, Kelly Strong, Sean Strong, Rudy Strong, DaShaun Strong, Najah Johnson, Nia Johnson, Aliyah Johnson, Amanda Gregory; great grandchildren, Camron Strong, Dillan Strong, Raquel Strong, Jaydah Strong; siblings, Floreece Smith, George (Francis) Strong, Bob Strong, Dianne Strong, HB (Jean) Strong, and Riley (Lois) Strong; special daughters, Debra Walker, Juanita Osby, Dorothea Martin, Doris Brooks, Taneshia Jett, Ashantis Person; honorary grand, Chiante Person; special neighbors, Autrey and Tammy McNeal, Emma Brown, and Marva McCoy; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
