Obituary for Paul Saxton Adkins

Paul Saxton Adkins was born October 19, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio. Paul departed this life on Thursday, February 21, 2019. He was the eldest of six children born to Douglas and Thelma Adkins.

He was preceded in death by his loving father, Douglas Adkins Sr, and brother, Douglas Adkins Jr. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Robinson Junior High School, and graduated from Scott High School.

His first job was with Playbell Rubber, he worked at LOF, and after that; he joined the Navy. Paul served in the Navy for 2 years and was in the reserves for 4 years. Paul was stationed in San Diego, California and he served on the USSS Pickaway. He moved up in ranks to Seaman and received three medals; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Paul was nurtured by a God inspired Mother and attended Parkwood SDA Church. He was known to recite chapters from the Bible. Paul and his siblings were active with the church.

Paul returned home after his tenure in the Navy and was able to return to work at LOf. In July, 1971, Paul married his high school sweetheart, Jean Moore-Adkins, and from that union was born two daughters; Catrina Adkins-Wormely (Alvin) and Erin Adkins.

Paul loved listening to Gospel, Jazz, R&B; he was a people person and was a skilled craftsman. Paul enjoyed watching movies with his daughters, especially cowboy movies, playing cards, and dancing.

Paul leaves to cherish his memory, daughters: Catrina (Alvin) Adkins-Wormely and Erin Romelle Adkins, mother: Thelma Adkins, sisters: Romelle Blair, Floella (Alonzo) Wormely, Tara Adkins-Brown, Elethea Penny Adkins, ex-wife: Jean Moore- Adkins, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special little buddy, Noah.

Paul will be missed, immeasurably missed by those he touched in his journey through life. We can take comfort in knowing that because of God’s Grace and Mercy, we may one day see him again.
