Obituary for Grace Helen Fryson
Grace “Dolly Dimples” Fryson was born on July 12, 1938 in Gallagher, WV to the union of Bruce and Elaine Upperdite. Dolly passed away on March 12, 2019 at the age of 80.
Dolly attended Washington High School in London, WV. In West Virginia she enjoyed going to musical concerts, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Dolly worked in the ice cream parlor at Doc’s Drug Store in Charleston, WV.
Dolly married Thomas “True” Fryson Sr. on March 12, 1962 in West Virginia and later relocated to New Jersey where their only son Thomas “Tommy” Fryson Jr. was born. They moved to Toledo, OH and she began working at Goodyear. In 1972 she began her career at Libbey Glass as a glass inspector for 27 years until she retired. Together True and Dolly enjoyed fishing, riding in the truck while her husband scrapped for metal, and playing cards.
Dolly was an active member at End Time Christian Fellowship where she taught the Christian education class and served on the mother board. She enjoyed reading her bible, shopping and spending time with her son Tommy, traveling, crossword puzzles, and going to the casino. Also, Dolly enjoyed attending her great-grandsons basketball games, watching NBA basketball in which she became an avid Miami Heat fan after Dwayne Wade was drafted, and watching the Pittsburg Steelers to see their handsome coach.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Thomas “True” Fryson Sr., parents Bruce and Elaine Upperdite, brother Robert Upperdite Sr., seven brother-in-laws, special niece Carolyn Brown, and special aunt Marie C. May.
Dolly leaves to cherish her memory her son, Thomas “Tommy” Fryson Jr.; Granddaughters, Shantell (Enos) Hereford, Tomisha Hollowell, and Tomy’ia Fryson; greatgrandchildren, Dajion Cunningham, Trinity Lake, Azariah Reid, David Lake Jr., Taniyah Hereford, and Reginald Fench; sister-in-laws, Esther Hicks, Mary Beverly, Kelsey Jones, and Daisy Frieson; godsister, Priscilla Price; godsons, Clyde and Bernard Moore; uncle, Andy (Chris) Majors; aunt, Willa Majors; best friends, Betty Brown, Charlotte Jackson, Eleanor Flemming, Oradell Newkirk, and Martha Wellington; special daughter-in-law, Vera Hollowell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
