Obituary for Donald Alan Powell, Sr.

Donald Alan Powell, Sr. was born in Toledo, Ohio March 15, 1967 to the union of Donald and Sandra (Mason) Powell.

Donald was united to former wife, Barbara Coleman on February 14, 1992. To that union a son, Donald Alan Powell II, was born. Donald has a three month old granddaughter, Stephanie Alana Marie Powell.

Donald passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2019, in his home.

Donald worked various jobs during his career. He worked at Grief Packaging for 10 years until he became disabled in 2007.

He became an excellent student taking courses online from the University of Phoenix, receiving an Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Donald enjoyed this education experience.

Donald was an avid sports fan. He loved the University of Michigan and Detroit Lions football teams. Before he was disabled, he loved to go fishing. In a newspaper article he told the reporter that he found it relaxing.

Donald loved talking to people and advising young men how to live. He was always smiling.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Donald Powell.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory: son, Donald II; granddaughter, Stephanie; mother, Sandra Powell-Abhulimen; brothers, Dermaine Powell and Donnell Powell; sisters, Danyell Copeland and Yvette Stewart; special nephew, Ed Nunn; great aunt, Peggie Hollingsworth, aunts, Willa M. Greathouse, Joanne Rodgers, Donnette (Ramon) Tiggs; uncles, Ronald Jacobs Bey and James Goings; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friend, Kenneth Taylor, and special friend, Carolyn Moore.

A special thanks to adopted sister, Pamela Coleman, who was his legs when he was not mobile. The family also would like to thank Donald's Home Health team.
