Obituary for Janet Sallie

Janet (McFarland) Sallie was born in Toledo, OH, on December 13, 1942 to the union of Marcellus and Margaret (Armstrong) McFarland. She departed this life on Sunday, April 14, 2019, in Hospice of Northwest OH (Perrysburg). Janet attended Irwin Elementary, Swanton High, graduating from Morris R. Waite High School. She was also a graduate of Stautzenberger College.

Janet was united in holy matrimony to John Willis; to this union two children were born. Later in life, she married Herbert (Johnny-Red) Sallie.

Janet was employed by her brother, Dr. Earl Armstrong and Phifer, Inc. Manufacturing in Tuscaloosa, AL., retiring after 15 years of service.

As a child she attended Braden United Methodist Church. After moving to Alabama, Janet united with Cornerstone Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Earnest Palmer. Upon returning to Toledo, she joined Friendship Baptist Church, Bishop Duane C. Tisdale, Pastor.

Janet loved to travel with her nieces, Whitney and Ashley and also loved to shop.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Richard and Jack Edward.

She leaves to cherish her memory: mother, Delores McFarland; loving children, son John, daughter Yolanda (Lewis); grandsons, Jeremy (Jennifer) and Jordan; granddaughters Shenia and Monique; brother, Earl (Miriam); sisters, Patsy (Jimmy), Ann, Bobbie and Marcia; sisters-in-law, Annie and Shawn; three great-granddaughters; aunts, Gladys, Mary, Lynn, Hazel, Faye and Billye; special niece, Tina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A special thanks to cousins: Annette, Ardelia, Diane, Ryan and Jolynn for their loving kindness during her time of illness.

The family would like to thank the staffs of St. Anne Mercy Medical Hospital, Franciscan Care Center and Hospice of Northwest OH, (Perrysburg).
