Rev. Joetta Davis, age 76, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Joetta was born to John and Theola McNeal on April 22, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Whitney High School in 1961. She studied at the University of Toledo, Lourdes College and the North Ohio Ministerial Institute of Cleveland.

On April 24, 1961, she married and is survived by her loving husband, Samuel Davis, Jr, three adult children; Christopher D. Davis, Gregory (Reo) Davis, and Leslie Davis-Paige (Kory Paige), nine grandchildren; Samuel-Christopher Davis, Kellen Davis, Kendall Davis, Korina Davis, Samuel Davis, LaShunda Dennis, Abreyah Dennis, Gregory Davis-Foster and Jorie Pyant and four great grandchildren; Samuel, Anthony, Jordan and Aubrey Davis, five siblings; Elizabeth Jones, Edward McNeal (Lynn), LaVonda Kizer, Melvin McNeal (Lisa McNeal), special brother, Theopolis McNeal and several nieces (special niece – Pam Harper and Claudia Sebree), nephews, cousins, special friends – Theresa Powell, Hazel Armstrong, Mrs. Eliza Easley, Maxine Trail and The Trail Family.
Rev. Davis was a retired Banking Officer/Branch Manager (Ohio Citizens Bank) and retired RSA Agent (Avis/Budget Car Rental Group).
In 1978, the Lord saved her and confirmed himself in her. In 1989, Rev. Davis was called into the ministry and was ordained as and Elder in the Church of God in Christ, serving under Elder James R. Rowlette, Jr. In 2003 she was ordained under the Baptist banner under Rev. Dr. D.L. Perryman, and licensed and ordained under the AME banner serving under Rev. Dr. Otis J. Gordon, Jr at the Warren AME Church.
Rev. Joetta Davis was an Associate Minister of Warren African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served in many different capacities such as The Christian Couples for Christ facilitator, the teacher of the noon day Discipleship Bible Class and the Sunday school teacher of the traditional Sunday school class. She was also active in Vacation Bible School teaching both children and adult classes. She was a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Third District Women In Ministry (WIM).
Rev. Davis’ favorite scripture is Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” She loves the Lord, His Word, His Call and His People, and would take nothing for her journey.
She was preceded in death by her father, John McNeal, mother, Theola McNeal and Sister Loretta McNeal.
