Obituary for Michael Leon Foster

Michael “Mikey” Leon Foster, 71, transitioned peacefully on May 15, 2019 at Flower Hospital. Michael was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio on February 29, 1948. He graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School Class of 1966. Michael served in the U.S. Army as a Medic from 1968-1970. He worked and retired from Allied Chemical and went on to work for the Toledo Fire Department as the Main Cook and EMT for 15 years and finally retired in 1997. Michael was fun-loving and always joyful to be around. He was devoted to all of his family and friends, you could always count on him when you needed something by picking up the phone and calling. If he could help Mike was there.

Michael's "Man Cave" got a lot of use because he loved to listen to his music with all the up to date albums, and you could be guaranteed to find him there watching sports, especially wrestling. One of his favorite games he loved to play was Spades and he was very good at cheating. “Man Alive” was his favorite saying along with calling everyone a “Knucklehead.” Michael was a very good cook and good on the grill, his favorite dish was fried chicken. If you asked him for a sandwich, he would make you a “Samich” and you would be guaranteed to have some “Scoop Juice” to go along with it. In his younger days he loved to take Mom to the Jamaican club to dance and enjoy Reggae and Calypso music in his spare time.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Phillip & Emma Foster; Siblings, Rosemary Williams, Darryl & Phillip Foster, Jr ; Grandson, Antwon Huggins.

He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Vilma Maria Foster (whom he married in Panama when he was in the Army on October 31st, 1969); daughters, Mariela & Zoraida Foster, Connie Jepsen & Giovanna Foster; son, David Kelly; Sisters, Phyllis Toney, Leona(Lamont) Chenault, Tina Crocket, Emma Kay Newble, Sherlene (Donald) Pressley & April Foster; Brothers, Izanuel(Felicia) Foster, Victor(Rhonda) Foster & Lemark Foster; 18 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

POEMS BELOW

WEARY
God saw you getting weary, He did what He thought best. He put his arms around you and said, Come and rest. He opened up His golden gates on that heartbreaking day, and with His arms around you, you gently slipped away. It broke our hearts to lose you, You did not go alone. A part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

A BEAUTIFUL LIFE
A beautiful life that came to an end, he dies as he lived, everyone’s friend. In our hearts, a memory will always be kept, of one we loved, and will never forget.
