Obituary for Ivery L. Parker
Mr. Ivery Lee Parker departed this life on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Michigan Medicine: University of Michigan in
Ann Arbor, MI. God blessed him with 74 beautiful years on this earth. Ivery was born in Madison, Alabama on
August 25, 1944, to the late Ned Fletcher and Ada Lee Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Willie James Baker of Toledo, Ohio.
During high school, Ivery had a successful football career and graduated from Councill Training High School in
Huntsville, AL in 1962. He joined the United States Air Force shortly thereafter and married Sandra (Tuck) Parker on May 28, 1965. After his tour of service, Ivery was honorably discharged and later moved his family from Orlando, Florida to Toledo, Ohio.
Ivery gave his life to the Lord by joining Union Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jesse L. Spears. He was a dedicated member with excellent attendance until he became ill.
Ivery or “Rock Jaw,” as his work family called him, provided for his family for over 30 years as a truck driver for Roadway Express in Toledo, OH. During this time, he achieved many awards for safe driving including the Million Mile Safe Drivers Award of Excellence. Upon retiring from his profession as a truck driver, Ivery enjoyed his free time, which he well deserved. He made the best of it with his sense of humor, numerous fishing trips, and annual birthday celebrations with family and friends. He also enjoyed working in his yard and performing routine maintenance on his cars.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of over 54 years, Sandra E. Parker of Toledo, OH; sister, Maxine
