On March 5, 1978, God saw fit to gift the world with one special soul that would touch the hearts and lives of many. Devon Latrice O’Neal was born in Toledo, Ohio to the loving parents of Toney and Maple O’Neal. She was the second born of three siblings.

Even in her earliest years, Devon’s larger than life personality shined through. She effortlessly brought warmth, love, and laughter to every room she entered. She had an endearing heart for others and a creativity that would become the building blocks for her entrepreneurial endeavors in her later years.

Devon accepted Christ at an early age while attending McTigue Jr. High School. She graduated from Springfield High School and received her cosmetology license from Penta County in June 1996. It was during this time that Devon met and dated the love of her life and the father of her daughter (Trinity), Terrill C. King. The two of them were inseparable until his untimely passing in December 2005.

Devon loved family. She was elated to celebrate a shared accomplishment with her uncle Mike, and aunt Marlise on June 2010, when she became a member of the Mountaintop Great Banquet Community of Toledo.

There is a quote that reads, “There is no friendship, no love, like that of a parent for the child.” In Devon’s case this was no exception. Devon often regarded her daughter as the joy of her life. Spending time with Trinity, who Devon affectionately called “Mooka” was the greatest pastime in her life. Both Devon and Trinity cherished the countless hours spent sharing stories, being a sounding board for each other, and simply bonding as only a mother and daughter could.

Devon’s heart for people led her to many opportunities to serve others. Whether she was babysitting small children, taking care of the elderly, or simply offering her support and encouragement. She was a home health aide, a medical assistant, and an entrepreneur. Devon also had a great sense of humor. As early as a child and all through her adulthood Devon would love to share stories on how she had to check somebody. Devon could tell you about yourself with love but at the same time “get you together.” Being the outspoken person that she was you could easily tell if she liked you, or if she didn’t.

She is preceded in death by Grandparents Mr. Edward & Mrs. Margaret O’Neal.

Left to Remember Devon’s legacy of love and laughter are Trinity, C. King, her one and only daughter born to her and her father Terrill C. King. Her loving and supportive parents, Toney E. and Maple L. O’Neal; Her grandmother Big Momma. Her brother Kenard L. O’Neal of Atlanta, GA. and sister Tonya L. O’Neal; two nephews, Toney T. Fuller and Daniel J. Davis; six uncles, ten aunts, a host of cousins and two special friends, Carl and Terry.
