Obituary for Earvy J. Barnes

Mrs. Earvy Jean (Casey) Barnes, 77 of Toledo, OH transitioned to be with the Lord on June 26, 2019 at 3:30 a.m., St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, OH. She was born, September 3, 1941 in Pine Bluff, AR to Clarence and Estella Casey who preceded her in death. She accepted Christ at an early age and was always active in church as an Usher. She was a member a New Hope where she was part of the Drama Ministry and the Kitchen Ministry. Her motto was “I just want to be an Indian and not a Chief.” She would support her sister Annie 100% in all of her many projects. She would write scripts, make costumes, and build sets in Annie’s backyard. She gave of herself untiringly.

Earvy graduated from Whitney Vocational High School as a seamstress. She was a homemaker and devoted herself to her husband and children until the passing of her husband. She worked numerous jobs, but in her later years she worked solely as a cook at several nursing homes. Her last job she worked as a foster grandparent at Gunckel School.

She met and married Donald Barnes who preceded her in death, to this union two sons where born, Mark and Christopher. Earvy was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Lawrence Casey, grandson, Dwight and stepson, Donald, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Mark and Christopher (Dianca) Barnes both of Toledo, OH; stepson, Anthony of Chicago, IL; stepdaughters, Laurie and Felicia of Chicago, IL; brothers, Clarence and Clem Casey of Toledo, OH; sister, Annie Banks of Toledo, OH; granddaughters, Tyler Barnes, Melissa, Sabrina, Tyeese, Nicole and Leah; grandsons, Donald III and David; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
